The Original UK Jazz Summer School – Cardiff residential course cancelled

going online again...

Sebastian writes: One could sense the frustration and disappointment in Buster Birch’s voice today… Buster is Director of the Original UK Jazz Summer School had been hoping to hold this year’s course as a residential event, but he rang to tell us today that Covid restrictions have made that impossible. The course will be online for a second year, and bookings are now open.

The faculty of tutors is, as ever, impressive to say the least:

Liam Noble, Byron Wallen, Dave Hassell, Pete Churchill, Geoff Simkins, Malcolm Earle-Smith, Simon Purcell, Dominic Ashworth, Julian Nicholas, Steve Lodder, Nia Lynn, Nick Smart, Steve Buckley, Simon Thorpe and Buster Birch himself…

FULL STATEMENT

Here is Buster Birch’s statement. He says…

“It was disappointing to cancel our summer school in Cardiff again this year. Things were looking promising a few weeks ago and we had sold all of the places, but the continued uncertainty and ongoing restrictions have forced us to move online again this year. However, the feedback from last year’s online summer school was fantastic and we’re looking forward to running our 3-day online event again this July, which will be even better!”

The course includes masterclasses, workshops, repertoire classes, listening sessions and evening concerts with 15 of the UK’s most highly respected jazz educators. Multiple events are running simultaneously over the 3 days and participants have open access to all of them, enabling students to custom build their own program of study. In addition, all of the classes are recorded and students have free access to the videos for one month, to catch up on all of the sessions they didn’t attend live, offering over 60hrs of tuition included in the price of £150.

A daily schedule is listed on the website (link below), along with Frequently Asked Questions and more information about the tutors.

Booking is now open and you can secure your place by completing the online application form and payment (VISA and PayPal are accepted in any currency).

Prospective students are encouraged to email Buster at: info@theonlineukjazzschool.com with queries.
