Swanage Jazz Festival 2025

Chairman's Preview and Full Listings

Paul Kelly, Festival Chair of Swanage Jazz Festival, writes:

“Swanage Jazz Festival is back this July with the 34th Festival running Friday 11 – Sunday 13 July.

We have sought to achieve our usual balance of the popular, the new and the topical in a programme that spans New Orleans to contemporary Jazz. Our headliners include debut Swanage performances by the grande dame Elaine Delmar (Friday) and Andy Sheppard (Saturday). Friday also features Afro-Jazz dub from Soothsayers. Saturday features the hard-touring Hejira and Sunday the exciting pianist Sultan Stevenson. Sunday night closes with a 10 piece rave-up led by Pete Long titled ‘Jazz at The Mowlemonic’.

We are delighted to include newer artists like the Emily Masser/Alex Clark Quintet with a fresh stamp on old standards, the newly arrived and lauded singer Maddie Martin and return visits from pianist Rebecca Nash, Canadian guitarist Keanu Ienco and saxist Jon Lloyd.

Returning favourites include Liane Carroll, Simon Spillett, Craig Milverton, Nigel Price and Hexagonal. The Festival pays tribute to Oscar Peterson’s 100th birthday plus homages to Benny Golson and much loved West Country saxist Jeremy Huggett – who both died in 2024.

That is just a small sample the of 36 bands in the ticketed programme.”
