An important and highly influential figure on the Scottish scene, vocalist and educator Fionna Duncan died on Tuesday 6 December 2022 at the age of 83. As Rob Adams has written in an obituary just published in The Herald, her “circle of admirers and musical associates extended into Europe and the U.S.” and her singing had “an unfailing sense of swing and a delivery that suggested she’d lived the lyrics she was singing.” The workshops she founded have been a major factor in building the scene, and she also won some major awards. Link to Rob’s full obituary below. In sadness.
