A new video series is launched today. As its founders announce: “London-based singers Rebecka Edlund and Becky Alice bring you The Tea Hive, a new video series in which they share buzzing stories about music they love over a cup of tea.”
In the first episode, Becky interviews Rebecka about the Swedish tradition based around the annual celebration of Santa Lucia on 13 December, an important cultural tradition. Rebecka is originally from Gothenburg in Sweden, so taking on the central role of the singer for this occasion is part of her musical identity.
Sebastian writes: I have encouraged The Tea Hive project and helped it to get started for two reasons. Firstly, whereas I can see story-telling about other art-forms improving and increasing in importance, in music there can be a tendency for it all to become a series of instant, contextless fixes, a production line. I therefore am genuinely interested to encourage younger people with deeper knowledge and love of music to tell their stories.
There has also been a specific event that has led to this, namely the tragically early death of our LJN colleague Alison Bentley. She wrote about music that she loved, knew about and had really listened to. So I asked Becky and Rebecka to take that as the brief, and to ‘buzz’ with enthusiasm…which has been the cue for the name of the new video channel.
The Tea Hive is Rebecka and Becky’s project and they have complete editorial control. I want to thank them for this first release, and above all to wish them luck!
