TEXT OF PRESS RELEASE:
The 2022 Steinway 2-Piano Festival (10th to 20th March) will be the largest ever, with a total of 36 different pianists in 20 different shows at PizzaExpress Jazz Club in Soho. American jazz stars Kenny Barron, Kirk Lightsey and Benny Green all make their debut appearances in the festival, and indeed in the PizzaExpress Jazz Club. Regular sell-out pairings like those of Julian Joseph and Jason Rebello, Ian Shaw and Liane Carroll, Zoe Rahman and Nikki Yeoh, Alex Wilson and Nicky Brown all return, while partnerships by Dena DeRose and Champian Fulton, Jamie Safir and Nikki Iles, Joe Stilgoe and Joe Webb are brand new combinations.
Other world class pianists like Dado Maroni and Robert Mitchell were days away from appearing in the 2020 edition of the 2-piano festival, when the UK was hit by its first covid-related lockdown. We are delighted that they have agreed to return in 2022.
With lunch shows on Saturday 12th and 19th, and evening shows on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th, an extraordinary total of thirty-six piano players will be appearing during the festival.
