Preceded by a concert in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, saxophonist Phil Bancroft’s new trio, The Beautiful Storm marks the launch of its debut album, Finding Hope (When All Seems Lost) with appearances at Aberdeen Jazz Festival and the Novus weekend in Edinburgh as well as playing gigs in Tobermory on the island of Mull and Resolis on the Black Isle in the north of Scotland.
The Beautiful Storm features Delhi-based Gyan Singh, who first engaged audiences in the UK in the noughties when his fusion band Mrygya produced award-winning performances during the Edinburgh Fringe.
Singh has gone on to work with several Scottish groups and recorded the duo album Birth & Death with Phil Bancroft before joining Bancroft and guitarist Graeme Stephen in The Beautiful Storm.

Also returning to Scotland, Trilok Gurtu joins the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra for three concerts featuring music from his 21 Spices album.
Gurtu has previously appeared in concerts across Scotland with guitarist John McLaughlin, saxophonist Jan Garbarek, and keyboardist Joe Zawinul and in a trio with Cuban pianist Omar Sosa and Sardinian trumpeter Paolo Fresu.
The SNJO tour will reunite Gurtu with saxophonist (and SNJO founder-artistic director) Tommy Smith, who joined Gurtu’s band on tour in the US and Europe during the 1990s.
