Giacomo Smith and Lucy-Anne Daniels – ‘Tea for Two’

Video from Ladbroke Hall

Zhenya Strigalev, who is doing a great job with the Friday night gig at Ladbroke Hall, has posted this text to accompany the video above, which we have been enjoying….

“A new musical partnership between reedman Giacomo Smith and singer Lucy-Anne Daniels based on the legendary musical interplay between Lester Young and Billie Holiday. Young and Holiday mirrored each other’s tone, with the raspy reediness of Holiday’s voice blending seamlessly into the creamy lyricism of Young’s saxophone. Here is”Tea for Two” (composed by Vincent Youmans with lyrics by Irving Caesar) performed live at West London’s Ladbroke Hall.”

The trio with them are: George Prentice-Povey (drums), Tom Ward (piano) and Aleksandra Dimitrova (bass)
