Today, Wednesday 7 June, EFG London Jazz Festival is announcing a second wave of phenomenal acts to add to its unmissable lineup of multi-talented and multigenerational jazz musicians. Securing its position as the highlight of London’s jazz calendar after an amazing return to full force for its 30th birthday last year, EFG London Jazz Festival unveils new shows including a second date announced for Ron Carter, performances from Joshua Redman Quintet, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Makaya McCraven alongside LCO, and the return of the Opening Gala, Jazz Voice.

Opening in glamorous style at the Royal Festival Hall, the festival will celebrate the journey of the iconic Jazz Voice, featuring the best moments from the past 15 years since being launched alongside the Festival title sponsor EFG, as well as surprise guests and exciting new arrangements from conductor Guy Barker performing with the 44 piece Festival Orchestra.

EFG London Jazz Festival showcases cutting-edge artists pushing jazz into unimaginable new forms like American jazz vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant who performs at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. It’s also a home for iconic performances from internationally renowned jazz superstars such as Ron Carter who is announcing a second date at Cadogan Hall with his “Foursight” Quartet, including star pianist Renee Rosnes.
Prolific drummer, composer and producer Makaya McCraven returns to the festival following his sold out show at last year’s festival. This time, he will be performing his critically-acclaimed album In These Times with the London Contemporary Orchestra at the Barbican for a show that promises to be a festival highlight. The legendary A-list jazz group, the Joshua Redman Quintet featuring young vocalist Gabrielle Cavassa, will also be hosted in the iconic Barbican Hall for a coaxingly soulful performance.
EFG London Jazz Festival brings leading artists from around the world to the capital for 10 days of the very best live music, one-off collaborations, fresh discoveries, and exclusive new commissions, whether it’s buzzy future-jazz in hushed East London haunts, or roaring ensembles in the world’s finest concert halls. Other highlights include Avishai Cohen Trio sharing the stage with Emma Rawicz at Cadogan Hall; Angelique Kidjo’s unique performance with Chineke! Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall; Sam Gendel, who will be performing his eclectic, spaced-out jazz at the Milton Court and Cape Verdean singer Mayra Andrade.
EFG London Jazz Festival is also inviting their audiences to their Launch Party on 12th September at Lafayette. This is a much-awaited event of the season, heralding the upcoming Festival and for the first time ever it will be celebrated with an open to public live show featuring a special performance by Colectiva with DJs taking over until late.
