Blue Note Entertainment president Steven Bensusan has gone public in an interview with Sky News, outlining his reactions to City of Westminster’s decision not to allow a late license for the proposed club in St Martin’s Lane.

  • He expresses that he is “a little confused” by the decision
  • He confirms that an appeal has been lodged
  • The article notes that in addition to 250-capacity main room, the plans include a smaller 100-capacity room to showcase emerging artists
  • The article also has a forceful expression of support from the Music Venue Trust, who note that the plan contains “absolute commitments to grassroots live music programming.”

Quoting from the interview : “In every city that we’ve ever opened the club they’ve rolled out the red carpet and really tried to go above and beyond and want us there because they realise that we’re good for the economy. We generate a lot of jobs and we bring not just nightlife but a cultural moment to the city. I’ve never experienced this before.”
