Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice Reveals List of 10 Grant Recipients

Berklee College in Boston has announced that 10 women have been awarded the Score Compilation Grant, which allows recipients to create digital collections of their scores in the Berklee Library. The grants are awarded by Berklee’s Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice, whose Founder and Artistic Director is Terri Lyne Carrington.

According to the press release, “compositions by the grant recipients will be available for Berklee students, staff and faculty in the college’s digital library.”

The 10 are:

  • Saxophonist, Chile-born Melissa Aldana
  • Pianist and composer Courtney Byran
  • Pianist Marilyn Crispell
  • German-born saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock
  • Flautist Nicole Mitchell, originally from Chicago
  • Dutch saxophonist and composer Tineke Postma
  • Pianist, composer and educator Michele Rosewoman
  • Pianist Shamie Royston originally from Denver, Colorado.
  • Pianist, composer and educator Angelica Sanchez
  • Pianist Helen Sung, originally from Texas
