Jazz is the sound of surprise, and the 606 Club’s programme has some interesting and appealing dates coming up in the next few weeks:

Thursday 28 October: A Celebration of Christian Brewer‘s life and music, led by Leon Greening and featuring Alex Garnett and Sam Mayne. with Adam King and Matt Skelton

Leon Greening worked closely with Christian Brewer (1965-2021) in the UK and Europe from the late 90s onwards. “I organised this tribute at the 606 for Christian because we played at the club so often. ” The first set will consist entirely of Christian’s compositions. In the second set the quintet will re-create the 1959 album Cannon Ball Adderley Quintet in Chicago with Coltrane which Greening and Brewer were to have played in 2020 before the pandemic set in, and before Christian’s passing.
